Wastewater: discharges, sampling and documented closure

Clear obligations, results read against the standard, and evidence that closes the loop.

In context

Every plant that discharges water — to the sewer or to a receiving body — has obligations: discharge permits or registrations, limits to meet, and sampling to demonstrate. The typical problem isn't sampling: it's not knowing exactly what applies to you, or having loose results with no interpretation or closure.

We identify your obligations by discharge point, coordinate sampling with a lab and chain of custody, interpret the results against the applicable limits and document the closure — including corrective actions if something comes back out of range.

What we review and put in order

  • Obligations per discharge point

Which permits, registrations and limits apply depending on whether you discharge to the sewer or a receiving body.

  • Discharge characterization

Process, flows and relevant parameters per point.

  • Sampling and chain of custody

Coordination with an accredited lab and documented custody of the samples.

  • Interpretation against limits

Results compared against the standard or applicable specific conditions.

  • Actions and closure

If something is out of range: an action plan with closure criteria and compliance evidence.

  • Reports and due dates

A sampling and reporting calendar so no frequency is missed.

  • Sampling coordination + chain of custody

Typical timeline

2–6 weeks (sampling-dependent)

How we work

No noise: three verifiable phases. Deliverables defined before starting.

  1. Step 1: Assessment

Operation + evidence + gaps prioritized by impact and urgency.

  2. Step 2: Order + traceability

Structure, versions, records, full evidence index.

  3. Step 3: Verifiable closure

Open items closed by criteria. Package audit-ready.

Discharge frequently asked questions

Yes. Sewer discharges also have limits and a competent authority, plus the local utility's conditions. We determine exactly what applies based on your discharge point.

No. We coordinate sampling with accredited labs — or work with yours — and handle the chain of custody and result interpretation.

It gets documented, the probable cause is identified, and an action plan with closure criteria is built: process adjustment, pretreatment or verification re-sampling. The file shows the finding and its correction.

It depends on your permit, your specific conditions and the applicable regulations. Part of the deliverable is a calendar with your exact frequencies.

Discharge points, destination (sewer or receiving body), result history if it exists, and the plant's city. We quote within 24–48 hours.
